Course Name: Safe Pass
Duration: 1 Full Day
Course Aim: This course is designed to enhance the learners’ understanding and appreciation of the hazards commonly found in, on, and around construction sites. It aims to promote a culture of safety and compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, which mandates that all construction workers in Ireland, including apprentices and trainees, must hold a valid Solas Safe Pass Card.
Course Content:
- Introduction to Site Safety: Fundamentals of safety on construction sites.
- Health and Safety Legislation: Overview of relevant laws and regulations in the construction industry.
- Site Accident Reporting: Procedures for reporting accidents on-site.
- Introduction to Risk Assessment: Basics of identifying and assessing risks in construction settings.
- Working at Height, Excavations, and Electrical Hazards: Understanding and mitigating risks associated with these specific areas.
- Safe Operation of Construction Equipment: Guidelines for safely using various construction equipment.
- Site Safety with Construction Vehicles: Best practices for safety around construction vehicles.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Importance and proper use of PPE in construction.
- Managing Noise and Vibration: Addressing health risks associated with noise and vibration on construction sites.
- Manual Handling: The importance of safe techniques for manual handling to prevent injuries. (please note that you must complete a separate training course to achieve a Manual Handling certificate)
- Personal Health and Welfare: Emphasising the importance of personal health and welfare in the construction industry.
Certification:
Successful candidates will receive a letter on the day of the course, valid for three weeks (at site discretion), during which they will receive their Solas Safe Pass card, valid for 4 years.
